What are the pieces of tomorrow?
The pieces of tomorrow are the fragments of our past we hold onto— unmet needs, disappointments, fears, failures, heartbreak and the stories that linger.
These fragments make their home in our hearts— often showing up in ways we don’t expect— and block us from receiving the gift of abundant life God offers us by:
keeping us in bondage to small thinking
blinding us from God’s goodness
blocking us from God’s promises
stealing our joy and peace
quenching our faith
dimming our light
This space is for women of faith who are ready to take a journey into the heart. To uncover these fragments— the pieces that shape our tomorrow— and make them beautiful.
You can read more about what to expect here in the about page.
A little backstory…
It was a Sunday evening in the spring of ‘18 when I came home to a book on my bed titled The Christian Codependence Recovery Workbook. I knew my mother put it there. At the time, I didn’t know what codependence was, but as I flipped the book open and thumbed through its pages, my world started to make sense. It was a silent message. A gentle nudge. A quiet intervention. An invitation to address what I had been avoiding. I was fresh out of college and had been back in my childhood home for almost a year. I was different— more mature, more experienced— and yet, living in the house I grew up in again took me back to who I was in that place. Sometimes we have to go back to a place before we can move on from it, but I wasn’t ready to face her. The little girl in me, my inner child, who was in desperate need of tender love and care.
Things weren’t bad growing up, they just weren’t always great. Not great meaning there were core needs I had that were chronically unmet, deep disappointments, and heartbreak. As I got older, these became the fragments I held onto— stories I carried in my heart and built my identity, my whole world around. That Sunday, it wasn’t really my mom trying to get my attention— it was my Heavenly Father. He came down to the low place and met me right where I was at. Through God’s love, I was invited on a journey with Him, into my heart.
A Journey Into The Heart
Proverbs 4:23 gives us charge to guard our heart above all else, because from it flows the issues of life. To guard our heart is to watch over it, keep it, and maintain it.
In today’s world it is so easy to let busyness, information overload, and distraction keep us unaware of the condition of our hearts. Sometimes we are aware, but we don’t know where to start. Sometimes we can see the writing on the wall and find ourselves asking the question, “where do I go from here?”
Our God isn’t one who is far away, but one who comes close. He is our Great Physician and Master Gardener and wants to work with us to tend to the garden of our hearts so we can have intimate relationship with Him, experience the abundant life He came to give us, and ultimately bring Him glory.
This journey into the heart isn’t just about moving on from the past, it’s about setting the foundation to live a nourishing and flourishing life that bears much fruit.
But it takes time. As much as we don’t like to hear it in our fast-paced quick-fix culture, healing is a lifelong journey and caring for the heart is a lifelong practice.
When I started my journey, I was led to different books, online courses, in-person workshops, an amazing therapist, and even older, wiser friends to help guide and support me along my way. I’m here to do the same for you. Not because I have all the answers, but because I’ve learned how to sit with the questions.
So I’m here to share what I’ve learned—and am continuing to learn— along this journey: the lessons, the hard truths, the highs and lows, the wins and losses. I’m here to give you the practices, rhythms, skills and resources that continue to help me on my journey of healing and becoming. Most of all, I am here to give you a soft place to land, a welcoming and safe environment to unravel, and a loving push towards freedom.
It’s time to pick up the pieces and move forward
Because you are more than what happened to you
You are more than what they did to you
You are more than your imperfections
You are more than your failures
You are more than your anxieties
You are more than your addictions
You, dear one, were made in the image of God
A God who made no mistake when He made you and said it was good
A God who had no regrets when He gave it all to show His desire for you
You are worthy of love
You are worthy of healing
You are worthy of freedom
And you are worthy of the abundant life God came to give you
It’s time
It’s time to tend to the broken things and make them beautiful
It’s time to slow down, take a breath, and begin
It’s time to pick up the pieces and move forward
With love,
Ireana
I’d love to journey with you. 🤍
