Spring Has Come
and some exciting news!
Hello and Happy Spring!
It’s been a while. I hope you are well and enjoying this time of year.
There are many things I love about this season.
The smell of wet earth after rainfall.
The sound of bird song in the early morning.
The bright colors of nature as it bursts with new life.
The collective urge to declutter and deep clean what collected dust and piled up over winter.
The friendly faces of neighbors as warm weather pushes us all outdoors.
It is one of my favorite times of the year.
A time of refreshing and rebirthing. A time of bursting forth and shooting up.
It can be easy to get caught up in the excitement and brightness of spring and forget the dark quiet depths of winter— and for those of us in the north, the winter lingers.
But even in the midst of what feels like a never ending cold and dreary season, there is something happening in the dark. In the stillness, there is movement. In the quiet, there is a whisper. In rest there is preparation.
Roots grow deeper and hardier.
Seeds prepare for germination.
And then, all of a sudden
grey turns blue above our heads and
white turns green beneath our feet.
And then, all of a sudden
dark turns light and
deep turns delicate;
trees blossom, and
flowers bloom.
And the beauty reminds us that winter is worth it for the joy of spring.
Every spring it seems like there is something new that arises in an area of my life. A shift that happens. A door that opens. A new beginning. Last year, it was in my relationships. (I got married!)
This year, it is in my gifts and calling. Opportunities have come and doors have opened to use my gifts in ways I wouldn’t have imagined. Dreams, ideas, and visions I’ve had are starting to come to life. Things are beginning to shift.
It did not always feel this way. For a long time I felt delayed. Like I was behind. Like I was stuck. Like with every step I took forward I took two back.
But this spring has made that long season of weary waiting worth it.
Maybe you look at your life and see the flowers blooming, the sun shining, and the birds singing.
This is my declaration to you: spring is here.
Maybe you look at your life and see grey, gloomy skies and stunted growth.
This is my declaration to you: spring is coming.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” -Isaiah 43:19 NIV
Wherever you’re at, I am praying that you have the eyes to see and perceive what is coming and what is already here.
With love,
Ireana
P.s. In my last post, I mentioned forthcoming changes to this space. Now, in this joy and spirit of spring, I am excited to share that on May 30rd (two weeks!) The Pieces of Tomorrow will be re-birthed. More to come soon. 🤍
